Perhaps you could read Shon Faye’s The Transgender Issue. It’s easy to unpack some of the repeated gender critical talking points. Trans people are a tiny vulnerable minority and are used, as other vulnerable groups are, to divide and conquer. It’s true that there’s no left that matches the right. I hope to see the left have a genuine offer for the many.

A basic point is that women exist as a biological category and have rights on that basis. Denying that reality is not unpacking anything. Trans like everyone should be free to live their lives as they please, as should I. But I do not have and do not want access to women's spaces. Trans shouldn't get them either. They are men who identify as women.

The lack of discussion and the slogan of no debate has been a huge problem, that most of the left will not overcome. As you have said you are trans, may I take this opportuntity for your contributions, which are markedly different to what I experienced on twitter, which I abandoned. On the issue of prisons I have published a number of articles that are on the web which go into considerable detail on that issue. Not just trans in prisons but prisons in general, some of them about prisons in Colombia.
